Once upon a time it was said that humans often ended up resembling their pets - now we're making our pets look like us. We're killing ourselves and our animals  with diets laden with sugar, salt and fat.

But that's all about to change, in Even My Pet's A Porker. In this diet show with a difference,  leading nutritionist Lani Lopez and The Pet Doctor, veterinarian Seton Butler, are on a mission to tackle porky pets and their couch-potato owners, showing New Zealanders that sensible eating and exercise can transform the lives of overweight pets and their human masters and mistresses.Pet health statistics are shockingly similar to human ones:

  • 50% are either overweight or obese
  • 40% eat snacks including chips, hot chips, chocolate, pies and other high fat snacks more than twice a day
  • 25% are believed to have diabetes
  • Only 20% take regular exercise.

Will Lani and Seton be able to reverse the nation’s eating habits or are we destined to become a nation of porkers?
